State Representative Mike Armanini and Senator Cris Dush have announced that Elk County will receive more than $900,000 in infrastructure grants from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The funding includes allocations from both the Small Water and Sewer (SWS) program and the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF).

“I am proud to have worked with local officials and Sen. Dush to deliver this important infrastructure funding to our district,” said Armanini. “These grants are a significant investment in developing the infrastructure of our community and prioritizing health and safety.”

Senator Dush commented on the broader impact of these programs: “The Commonwealth Financing Authority’s statewide grant programs are vital tools for local governments as they seek to cost-effectively improve or repair essential transportation or clean water infrastructure. Thanks to this highly competitive financing, taxpayers and those living on fixed incomes will not have to bear the enormous price tag for these critical quality-of-life upgrades benefiting St. Marys’ Municipal Airport, Johnsonburg Borough and surrounding Elk County communities.”

St. Marys City was awarded an MTF grant exceeding $526,000 for runway rehabilitation at St. Marys’ Municipal Airport.

Several SWS grants were also allocated within Elk County:
– Johnsonburg Municipal Authority received three separate $100,000 grants: one for sewer rehabilitation at the community center on Center Street; another for replacing an asbestos pipe on Center Street; and a third for groundwater well testing and development.
– St. Marys Area Water Authority received a $100,000 grant for purchasing a water meter.

This round of CFA funding aims to support improvements in local transportation systems as well as upgrade water infrastructure projects across various Pennsylvania communities.
