Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. and Rep. Dallas Kephart have announced the approval of $25.8 million in state assistance for a water system improvement project in Clearfield County. This funding will be directed to the Clearfield Municipal Authority in the form of a $10.2 million low-interest loan and a $15.6 million grant from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST).

The project includes the construction of a new treatment building equipped with a membrane filtration system. It also involves the installation of new service pumps, process equipment, chemical feed systems, and a supervisory control and data acquisition system. Additionally, a below-grade baffled concrete clear well will be installed, and the electrical systems will be upgraded. The existing chemical building will also receive a new roof and interior finishes.

Sen. Langerholc, a board member of PENNVEST, stated, “Strengthening our water infrastructure through essential safety upgrades is critical to protecting public health, supporting economic vitality, and ensuring long-term environmental resilience.” He expressed satisfaction that the funding would act as a catalyst for necessary infrastructure improvements.

Rep. Kephart remarked, “The more than $25 million in state assistance for Clearfield Municipal Authority marks a major investment in water infrastructure.” He emphasized the project’s role in improving safety and ensuring durable infrastructure.

PENNVEST, which is an independent agency not supported by the state’s General Fund budget, provides financial assistance for the construction of drinking water, sewer, and stormwater projects across Pennsylvania.
