State Representative Dallas Kephart has announced the cancellation of his upcoming Clearfield town hall meeting, originally set for April 15. The cancellation is due to a hearing concerning the potential closure of SCI Rockview, which will take place at the same time.

Governor Josh Shapiro recently launched a plan to close certain correctional facilities within the Commonwealth, including SCI Rockview. Under Act 133 of 2018, there is a three-month period designated for public and stakeholder feedback before any final decision is made.

The crucial hearing on SCI Rockview’s proposed closure is scheduled for the evening of April 15. Kephart explained, “Unfortunately, the hearing for SCI Rockview is scheduled for the same time as my town hall.”

Kephart emphasized his commitment to attend the hearing, highlighting the substantial impact the closures of SCI Rockview and Quehanna Bootcamp would have on residents of the 73rd Legislative District.

Despite the cancellation, Kephart will hold another scheduled town hall tomorrow, April 1, at 5 p.m., at the Patton Fire Hall in Patton.
