Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35), chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, announced state funding for transportation upgrades in Cambria, Clearfield, and Centre counties.

“Maintaining a safe, efficient transportation network is a key component of thriving communities, but it is very expensive. I am pleased to announce this funding to help local governments in our area pay for these improvements,” Langerholc stated.

The grants awarded include:

Cambria County:
– West Carroll Township: $348,275 for the replacement of the Reed Street Bridge.
– Lower Yoder Township: $1 million for the replacement of the closed Tremont Bridge.
– Middle Taylor Township: $100,000 for paving a portion of Waterfall Road.
– Portage Borough: $258,300 for sidewalk improvements, including decorative LED lighting along Main Street.
– Richland School District: $1.7 million for vehicular and pedestrian improvements at Richland Elementary School.

Centre County:
– Rush Township: $78,000 for stormwater management and roadway improvements on Medical Center Drive.

Clearfield County:
– Beccaria Township: $239,158 for various roadway enhancements on Hoop Up Road and Poplar Street.

The grants were provided through the state Multimodal Transportation Fund, which supports municipalities, councils of governments, businesses, economic development organizations, public transportation agencies, and ports and rail freight entities.
