HARRISBURG – Senate Transportation Committee Chair Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) issued a statement today following the Commonwealth Court’s decision to uphold the constitutionality of Act 40 of 2023.
“Today’s decision validates our position from the inception of this legislation. This legislation is unequivocally constitutional, and any statement to the contrary is inaccurate as is evidenced by today’s decision from the Commonwealth Court,” said Langerholc. “Today is a win for law enforcement, riders of SEPTA and employees of SEPTA.”
Act 40 passed the General Assembly with broad bipartisan support and was signed by Gov. Josh Shapiro to provide additional resources to fight crime occurring on the SEPTA system.
Langerholc added, “I look forward to Attorney General Michelle Henry’s appointment of a Special Prosecutor now that these senseless roadblocks have been properly dealt with.”
