Lock Haven University issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.

Kinley Gioglio recently received Lock Haven University’s Faragalli Family Softball Scholarship. A Stroudsburg native, she is a junior business administration major with a concentration in management and a pitcher for the LHU softball team.

Gioglio’s primary reason for attending LHU was the university’s outstanding business program, but she also said the softball team’s excellent coaches, great traditions and history of success were deciding factors.

“I love that the size of the university community allows me to meet so many people and build relationships with my professors,” Gioglio said. “I also love Lock Haven’s beautiful campus, especially when the seasons change.”

The Faragalli Family Softball Scholarship helps Gioglio pay for her textbooks each semester. She said it was an honor and privilege to meet the donors of her scholarship, and she was excited to thank them for investing in her education.

“Without the generosity of donors, LHU students often experience financial hardship,” Gioglio said. “Receiving a scholarship allows me to focus on achieving my academic and athletic goals by minimizing the amount of hours that I have to put in at my part time job.”

Gioglio said she wants other students and prospective students to know that LHU provides a caring learning environment where faculty and staff are always willing to go above and beyond.

“Everyone here is very friendly and the faculty and staff are always willing to share their expertise to help students succeed,” she said. “If you have any questions or concerns, all you need to do is reach out and they will always do their best to help you.”

Gioglio also said she wants students to know that even though applying for scholarships can sometimes be time consuming, it’s worth it in the end.

“Receiving scholarships gives students more time to focus on their studies instead of working,” Gioglio said. “Scholarships also help lessen the impact of the rising costs of earning a college education.”

Gioglio’s future goal is to become an executive for a globally recognized company. She said her LHU education is doing a phenomenal job of preparing her to achieve those goals, by providing her with top-notch experiences that continually enhance her knowledge of the business world.
