Residents of three Clearfield County municipalities will soon see improvements to their water and sewer infrastructure, thanks to grants awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). State Representative Dallas Kephart announced the grants, acknowledging the efforts of the authorities' board members in securing the funding.

"I'm simply making the announcement as the authorities' board members deserve all the credit for initiating the application process for this competitive grant," said Rep. Kephart. "The grants being awarded are investments in the communities they are charged with serving and the money will be used to address a definite need."

The Houtzdale Municipal Authority has been awarded a grant of over $1 million. This funding will be used to upgrade and repair damaged pipes and existing service tanks in their Beccaria and Woodward townships, as well as Rush Township in Centre County.

In addition, the Clearfield Municipal Authority will receive a grant of over $53,000. This grant will be utilized for leak detection at their Lawrence Township wastewater lift station.

The grants were made possible through the CFA, an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development that administers Pennsylvania's economic stimulus packages. Project approval required five affirmative votes from the seven board members, with at least four of those votes coming from legislative appointees.

These infrastructure improvements will benefit the residents of these municipalities by ensuring the reliability and efficiency of their water and sewer systems. The grants reflect a commitment to addressing the needs of the communities they serve.

Residents and stakeholders with questions about these grants or any other state government issues are encouraged to contact Rep. Kephart's district offices. The Clearfield office can be reached at 814-765-0609, the Hastings office at 814-247-6210, and the Osceola Mills office at 814-339-6544.

This investment in Clearfield County's infrastructure will contribute to the overall well-being and quality of life for its residents. The grants demonstrate the commitment of the state government to supporting local communities in addressing their infrastructure needs.
