State Representatives Mike Armanini and Dallas Kephart are joining forces with local law enforcement agencies to offer free replacement events for license plates that have become difficult to read. These events are aimed at assisting locals whose vehicle plates no longer meet legibility standards.

Representative Kephart explained, “A registration plate is deemed illegible when one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet or if the registration plate shows any blistering, peeling, discoloration or loss of reflectivity." The representatives are providing two opportunities for getting such plates replaced.

Armanini's team will provide necessary forms, MV-44 and MV-46, with staff members managing the submission process to PennDOT. Each event will run from 4-6 p.m. Here are the scheduled dates and locations:

- Wednesday, August 7 at St Marys Area Middle School, 979 S. St. Marys Road, St. Marys.

- Wednesday, August 14 at the Curwensville Community Center, 11 Stadium Drive, Curwensville.

Armanini expressed gratitude for the collaboration of local police departments, stating, “We really appreciate both the St Marys and Curwensville Police departments for helping us get this accomplished. It will be a quick turnaround for anyone operating a vehicle with an illegible license plate, and dealing directly with local law enforcement allows us to avoid the usual plate replacement fee associated with replacement.”

For further information, interested parties can contact Scott Little, the media contact for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
