Pennsylvania State University-Penn State DuBois issued the following announcement.
Athletes have sacrificed the opportunity to participate in their sport, yet they’ve remained dedicated to their training and to their academic success. Penn State DuBois student-athletes are no different and have continued to work overtime to achieve their goals amid COVID restrictions.
Our latest Student Athlete Spotlight features Emiley Wheeler.
Wheeler is a forward on the Penn State DuBois Women’s Basketball Team and an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) major. She is a graduate of Eisenhower High School near Russell, Pennsylvania.
Emiley said she chose to attend Penn State DuBois because she visited the campus and immediately felt at home. On participating in athletics, Emiley said her basketball career has helped her to become a more well-rounded individual. She said, “It changed me to become better at working with others. It has made it easier for me to make new friends because of my teammates.”
After completing her degree program, Emiley aspires to help others in achieving their goals in occupational therapy. Graduates of the Penn State DuBois OTA program continue to serve their communities by offering educational programs and therapy that will help people to stay safe in their home and to recover from injuries. Career Opportunities for graduates include working in public and private schools, early intervention programs, general, psychiatric, and pediatric hospitals, day treatment centers, hospices and home health agencies, rehabilitation hospitals and centers, and more.
