Customers of the Johnsonburg Municipal Authority will see an improvement in the quality of their drinking water thanks to a more than $5 million Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) grant, according to state Rep. Mike Armanini (R-Clearfield/Elk).

“I’m happy to see the authority’s application for financial assistance be approved,” said Armanini. “They deserve credit for making known a need that exists in their community, and I was more than happy to support them in presenting this to the PENNVEST board of directors for consideration.”

The grant will address the authority’s desire to expand public water service and complete upgrades to the distribution system that will reduce leaks, eliminate flow restrictions, and address water quality issues. A new waterline will be installed along State Route 219, while a line is being proposed for the area near Launer Drive and another waterline replacement project is planned for Rose and Grove streets in Johnsonburg Borough.

PENNVEST serves the communities and citizens of Pennsylvania by funding sewer, stormwater, and drinking water projects in the form of low-interest loans and supplemental grants to local municipalities.

Questions about this or any state government issue should be directed to Armanini’s St Marys district office at 814-781-6301 or his DuBois office at 814-375-4688.
