Senator Wayne Langerholc, Jr., representing the 35th district, is set to host a bridge dedication ceremony in honor of PFC Wallace Rice. The event will take place this Friday, April 4, at 2 p.m. at the Elton Sportsmen’s Club in Elton.

PFC Rice, a Johnstown High School alumnus, served in the United States Army during World War II. He earned a Purple Heart after being wounded on September 19, 1944. PFC Rice passed away on January 18, 1975, and rests at Richland Cemetery in Richland Township, Cambria County.

To commemorate PFC Rice's service, the bridge on State Route 56 over Walters Avenue in Richland Township will be renamed as the PFC Wallace Rice Memorial Bridge.

The dedication is open to the public and provides an opportunity for the community to honor the legacy of their local hero.
