The House Republican Policy Committee is set to discuss the significance of rare-earth elements (REEs) on August 22, 2023. These minerals are crucial for various industries, including electronics, clean energy, aerospace, automotive, and defense. While China holds the largest reserves of REEs, a study by Penn State University has identified significant deposits of heavy rare-earth elements in Pennsylvania streams.

State Representatives Mike Armanini (R-Clearfield/Elk) and Dallas Kephart (R-Clearfield/Cambria) will host the hearing. The session will feature testimonies from experts at Penn State University and representatives from two leading energy exploration companies.

The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m. at River’s Landing and Event Center. It will be live-streamed through the members’ websites. For further information, media can contact Scott Little at 717-260-6137.
