State Representative Dallas Kephart and Senator Wayne Langerholc Jr. have announced nearly $2.5 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants allocated for projects in the Cambria and Clearfield communities. The funding is distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority under Act 71 of 2004, which aims to support public interest projects.
Senator Langerholc expressed his commitment to securing these funds: “I am proud to have advocated for this essential funding alongside Rep. Kephart. This joint collaboration will ensure our communities receive vital resources to invest in critical public projects with tremendous benefits.”
Representative Kephart echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of these investments: “Working with Sen. Langerholc, we were able to fight for crucial funding for the 73rd House District,” he stated. “Whether it is local road projects, critical water infrastructure, education support, or assisting our first responders, securing funding to help our communities is a top priority.”
The grants are designated for various municipalities and purposes including:
- Barr Township will receive $491,057 for construction and engineering on Keith Hollow Road.
- Beccaria Township has been allocated $136,508 to purchase a new loader.
- Cambria County will use $153,000 for improvements at the firefighter training facility.
- Cambria Heights School District is set to install school zone flashing lights with $39,500.
- Girard Township plans to acquire and upfit a dump truck with $118,473.
- Houtzdale Borough will pave borough streets using $266,538.
- Lawrence Township will undertake renovations worth $546,890 for an existing building intended for the Clearfield Regional Police Department.
- Moshannon Valley Economic Development Partnership has been granted $100,000 for renovating the Moshannon Valley Enterprise Center.
- Patton Borough will purchase a UTV for fire and rescue services using their grant of $32,445.
- Westover Borough plans renovations at its wastewater treatment facility with a budget of $49,065.
- Westover Municipal Authority will replace a roof on its wastewater treatment facility costing them around $40,000.
- Woodward Township received two separate grants amounting to over $340k; one allocation being used towards resurfacing Grange Avenue/Alexander Lane while another portion goes into renovating Houtzdale-Ramey EMS facilities.
