Senator Wayne Langerholc Jr., along with state Representatives Dallas Kephart and Mike Armanini, have expressed their opposition to Governor Josh Shapiro's plan to close two correctional facilities in Pennsylvania. The Quehanna Boot Camp in Clearfield County and SCI Rockview in Centre County are targeted for closure, a decision that has drawn criticism from the local legislators.

Langerholc described the governor's proposal as "shortsighted" and detrimental to the local economy. He emphasized the importance of these facilities not only for community safety but also for providing stable employment opportunities. Langerholc stated his intention to use all available resources to prevent the closures, highlighting the efficiency and necessity of keeping these facilities operational.

Kephart echoed these concerns, having visited Quehanna Boot Camp himself. He noted its success in reducing recidivism rates and questioned the logic behind closing a recently improved facility. Kephart argued that this decision appears to be part of a broader strategy to fund what he termed as "a governor’s spending wish list."

Armanini also visited Quehanna Boot Camp and praised its effectiveness. He expressed skepticism about relocating employees within the correctional system, fearing it might undermine the program's success. Armanini urged investment in maintaining the camp at its current location due to its unique contributions.
