State Representative Dallas Kephart announced the allocation of $1.75 million in low-interest funding for the Woodward Township Sewage and Water Authority. This loan aims to transform the current chlorine disinfection system into a modern ultraviolet system. The project includes updates to the drainage and pump station controls and will involve replacing the roof of the main building to ensure efficient operation of critical plant components.
“This loan marks a significant investment in our community,” Kephart stated. “Optimizing our wastewater systems is critical to our infrastructure and I am glad to share this award with residents of the 73rd. This loan will save ratepayers money on this project.”
The loan is part of a broader initiative funded by state and federal resources, approved by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST). Applications for the subsequent round of funding are open through October 30, with decisions to be made in January 2025. Interested parties can access application details at pa.gov.
PENNVEST, in operation for over thirty years, aims to enhance public health, safety, economic development, and environmental standards across Pennsylvania. The organization supports various projects, including wastewater treatment and stormwater management, offering financial assistance to local governments and facility operators. Additional information about PENNVEST is available on their website.
