Lock Haven University issued the following announcement on June 18.
Dear Campus Community,
Today Governor Wolf designated Friday, June 19, 2020, as a special holiday for all employees in agencies under the Governor’s jurisdiction. This will be in observance of Juneteenth National Freedom Day. Through the Chancellor’s office PASSHE is supporting this action to recognize the importance of this day as we all strive for justice and equity in our society. Consequently, tomorrow, Friday, June 19, 2020 has been designated as a special holiday across the State System.
Lock Haven University looks forward to observing this holiday which marks a monumental day in our nation’s history. As a result, the University will be closed and final exams or coursework scheduled for Friday, June 19, 2020 should be rescheduled in order to allow faculty and students to observe the holiday.
This special holiday will be administered in accordance with the appropriate labor agreements or Management Directive 505.7, Personnel Rules, and is not subject to the provisions of Management Directive 530.17, Partial and Full-Day Closings of State Offices.
